Veteran Pakistan batsman Younis Khan has apologized for his actions to the Pakistan Cricket Board. Recently, Younis had abandoned the domestic 50 over competition following a 100 percent match fee fine being imposed on him.

Younis Khan, who was leading the Khyber Pakhtunwala side in the Pakistan Cup, had left the tournament after playing just 2 games. It was during the second game that Younis had an altercation with the umpire and hence the match referee Aziz Ur Rehman summoned him for a disciplinary hearing. The skipper did not turn up for the hearing and the reports said that it was likely that the batsman might be banned for 3 to 5 matches.

“The PCB Chairman, Shaharyar Khan has taken serious notice of the incidents involving Younis and has summoned a report from the match referee,” a source in the PCB was quoted by PTI.

Younis Khan called up the PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan and apologized for his actions. “Younis Khan made telephonic contact with chairman PCB Shaharyar Khan today,” the PCB said in a statement.

“He felt sorry for the incident that happened during the ongoing Pakistan Cup in Faisalabad. He appraised the Chairman about his willingness to participate in the remainder of the tournament,” the statement further added.

Younis Khan accepted that he should continue playing the remainder of the tournament. He quoted, “(it is) obligatory on my part to participate in the premier [one-day] domestic tournament for the larger interest of the promotion of the game in the country.”

However, the PCB said that the charges against Younis would stay and necessary actions will be taken accordingly.
