Arguably the cleanest striker of the ball in world cricket, Yuvraj Singh is a doubtful starter for today’s evening match against the Kings XI Punjab. He has looked in some exceptional touch off late and his absence might be a blow to the defending champions. He is down with a bout of flu but he hasn’t been ruled out yet.

Coach Tom Moody said that a final decision will only be taken before the match as he is a very important player in the team. Yuvraj missed the last couple of matches due to flu and today’s encounter might well be the 3rd in a row. He roared back to the national team during the limited overs series against England and registered his highest ODI score during the 2nd ODI.

“Yuvraj has been striking the ball well (but) unfortunately he is suffering from flu and had to miss a couple of games. Apart from that, he looks in good shape,” Moody was quoted as saying by the Hindu. Yuvraj began the tournament with a whirlwind 62 of 27 deliveries against Royal Challenger Bangalore but couldn’t quite carry on in the next few matches.

It was during the limited overs series against England that Yuvraj made a comeback in the India colours and looked in ominous touch from the outset. Virat Kohli persuaded to go with Yuvraj and it worked wonders for Team India. After completing the century in the 2nd ODI, a teary Yuvraj looked up to the heavens and thanked almighty for his achievement.

He pumped his chest and let flow his emotions. It was the southpaw’s first century since the 2001 World Cup. It has been an inspirational journey and we all are privileged that the stylish left-handed batsman is roaring again. The battle with cancer has made him a very strong person which is reflecting in his performance. He is looking fitter than ever and we might be rolling back the years in the coming year or so.
