The Bushfire Bash charity match is all set to take place on Sunday, February 9 at the Junction Oval in Melbourne. It’s on the same day when the women’s T20I match between England and Australia will also take centre-stage. Earlier the Bushfire contest was scheduled to be held on February 8 in Sydney, but the torrential rains have forced the re-scheduling of the epic clash.
The game would be played between Ricky Ponting XI and Adam Gilchrist XI and a number of colossal names will be gracing their presence. Previously, Shane Warne was expected to lead a team, but he won’t be available due to commitments in Cape Town, South Africa. It’s also a match where the swashbuckling Yuvraj Singh and the ferocious Brett Lee will be plying their trade.
Both have played a lot of cricket together in their heydays. However, Lee has dismissed Yuvraj thrice (twice in ODIs and once in Tests). The left-handed Yuvraj didn’t have much trouble in facing the Aussie speedster as the southpaw averaged 55 while facing Lee in ODIs. However, prior to the Bushfire game, Yuvraj is wary of the fact that Lee was one of the fastest bowlers of his generation.
Yuvraj aware of Lee’s destructive abilities with the ball
Yuvraj hopes to be at the non-striker’s end when Lee cranks up the pace in excess of 150 kph. “Well I hope he’s not bowling 150kph at this moment. I hope he’s bowling 130-135. If he bowls that pace, I’ll be ready to face him. If he’s bowling 150, I think I’ll be at the non-striker’s end,” Yuvraj was quoted as saying.
Cricket Australia shared the video and captioning the same, wrote, “If Brett Lee turns up the pace in the #BigAppeal, Yuvraj Singh is happy to sit at the non-strikers’ end.”
