Rishabh Pant lost his father on Wednesday and he was playing for the Delhi Daredevils in their first match of the season on Friday. A 20-year-old who performed the last rites of his father just hours before his game came out and played an innings which will be remembered as one of his finest.

Some years ago a few players also lost their fathers and were seen hours later representing their teams and playing some memorable innings. Sachin Tendulkar lost his father during the 1999 world cup and he was seen scoring a century against Kenya hours later. A certain Virat Kohli also suffered a setback after his father passed away but his mother sent him back and he played fantastic innings of 90 runs to save his team a Ranji Trophy match.

Rishabh Pant on Saturday could not win the match for his team but his 33 balls half century would make his father proud. Pant lost his father in his sleep due to a cardiac arrest and it came as a shock to the 20-year-old and to come out of this shock with such courage for a boy who has just edged out his teens deserves massive respect.

Pant scored 57 runs of 36 deliveries and but it was not enough for the Delhi boy to take his team home. A lot of praise came from around the world for this young man but one person who is one of the strongest people mentally and has been through a lot came out and praised Rishabh Pant.

Yuvraj Singh, who has seen it all throughout his career thought that the loss was extremely tough to deal mentally and tweeted about the same. The tweet read, “Sorry for the loss of your father Rishab Panth still batted really well under pressure tough to deal mentally All credit to @RCBTweets.”

Here is the actual tweet.

All of his Delhi teammates are with him and as their coach Paddy Upton said, he will need their support throughout the Indian Premier League campaign.
