It was the big occasion, the India vs Pakistan game in the Asia Cup. Though the heat was on as the world had its eyes on the two teams, the two teams played hard yet with the best of spirits. Amidst the clash of the Titans, one moment that especially stood out during the during the contest involved Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal and Pakistan’s Usman Khan.

To start off, Pakistani skipper Sarfraz Ahmed won the toss and decided to bat first. The pitches in the UAE get slower as the game progresses and having exploited the pressure of the scoreboard in their previous encounter against India in the Champions Trophy final Sarfraz knew what he wanted to do. But Bhuvneshwar Kumar whose position was in doubt for some had other plans.

He dismissed two real threats, both the Pakistan openers in a matter of a run and they were 2 down with 3 runs on the board. Babar Azam and Shoaib Malik put up a recovering effort but both of them were dismissed in quick succession. The Indian spinners Kuldeep Yadav, Chahal and Kedar Jadhav then got into action and derailed the Pakistani batting completely.

Having won their last face-off by 180 runs Pakistan could just manage 162 runs before being bowled out. During the last part of their innings when No.11 Usman was batting, he had his shoelaces untied – with gloves and pads on it becomes really difficult for the batsmen to go down and tie the lace. Chahal then came forward to assist him with that and the image of the Indian tying his Pakistani counterpart’s shoes went viral on the internet.

Bowing down to the spirit

The Indian leggie also shared that image on Instagram and wrote- “Bowing down to the spirit of the game which every sport demands. #beingindian #beinghumble”

It proved to be a rather easy chase for the Indian team as the openers got them off to a flying start. They were clinical all the way and got home with 8 wickets in hand and 21 overs to spare.
