The mega-auction of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is fast approaching as the event is set to be held on January 27 and 28 in Bengaluru. While the franchises have retained their key players in the player retention even a couple of weeks ago, they would be keen on using Right to Match (RTM) card on the players they couldn’t retain. However, on the same lines the young leggie Yuzvendra Chahal is confident that Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will use RTM card for him.
RCB retained the obvious players like Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers who are the superstars in World cricket currently. Though they caught everyone off-guard by retaining Sarfaraz Khan who barely featured in any of the matches in the last couple of seasons. Their strategy in the upcoming auction would be interesting to see as they would look to build a side around the Kohli and de Villiers.
Chahal likely to attract many bids
Yuzvendra Chahal was key to RCB’s campaign in the last couple of years and also earned the place in the national side. He ruled the overseas batsmen during the home season last year and is now the key member of the side ahead of the World Cup in 2019. The leg-spinner, however, is not disappointed with the fact that his franchise RCB did not retain him and expressed confidence that he will play the upcoming season of IPL with them only. Though he also understands the dynamics in the auction as many franchises will look to buy him.
“I am not thinking too much as to what happened in the retention. I trust RCB. They still have the Right-To-Match card so I am 100 percent sure I am coming back to RCB. However, it also depends on how will it go at the auction,” he was quoted as saying by New Indian Express on Friday.
The youngster will soon embark on the tough tour of South Africa where he has played before for India A side.
