Even after a very successful outing against Zimbabwe, team India might drop three of their players when South Africa visits the sub-continent for a three-match ODI series. Just after the Asia Cup, it is expected that India will once again rest their senior players and give a chance for the young brigade to perform.

In their absence, some more talent could be called up in the Indian squad to check them out as the ODI World Cup isn’t far away. Shikhar Dhawan might once again lead the side in the absence of all the other senior players. Now, who are the three players that are likely to get dropped or be rested for the South Africa series? Let’s discuss –

1. Deepak Chahar

After a brilliant series against Zimbabwe, Deepak Chahar is destined to get back into the main squad of team India. With the T20 World Cup scheduled to take place in Australia, Chahar’s chance of making it to the World Cup now seems possible.

The pacer picked up 5 wickets in the 2 ODIs that he played and was good with the new ball. In case, either of Harshal Patel or Jasprit Bumrah don’t get fit in time for the World Cup, Chahar becomes the leading bowler of the side.

Thus, the Indian team might not risk the player before the T20 World Cup. He is likely to be rested for the South Africa series to help him stay fresh before the mega tournament.
