Zimbabwe v India 1st T20I – Statistical Highlights

Zimbabwe finally managed to put on some fight and they did that pretty well as they managed to defeat the No.2 ranked team in T20I cricket. After being put into bat, Zimbabwe scored 170 in their 20 overs thanks to a brilliant fifty from Elton Chigumbura. India had a lot of ups and downs in their chase but needed just 8 runs to win in final over with MS Dhoni still at the crease. However, Madziva held his nerves and gave away just 5 runs to seal a memorable win for Zimbabwe. Here we look at all the stats and records recorded during the game.

4 – KL Rahul became the 4th player to get out on the very first ball of the team’s inning on T20I debut. He is the first Indian player to get out on the first ball.

4 – Number of maiden overs Jasprit Bumrah has bowled in T20Is in 2016. He is the first player to bowl 4 or more maidens in a calendar year in T20Is. 9 other bowlers bowled 3 maidens in a calendar year but no one has bowled 4.

5 – Number of debutants in Indian XI today. Only the 2nd time since their inaugural game, India played with 5 debutants in a T20I. Last instance was also vs Zimbabwe at Harare in 2015.

5 – Number of T20Is Zimbabwe have won in 2016. Overall, they won only 13 matches in the T20I format.

5 – Number of time MS Dhoni was unbeaten in a chase when India lost in T20Is. In ODIs, he was unbeaten only once in a lost chase.

25 – Balls taken by Elton Chigumbura for his fifty. This is the 3rd fastest fifty by a Zimbabwe player in T20Is.

43 – Runs conceded by Jaydev Unadkat in this game. He was the 4th most expensive Indian bowler on debut. Rishi Dhawan conceded 42 runs and is 5th on the same list.

51 – Sixes hit by Hamilton Masakadza in T20Is. He is the first Zimbabwe player to hit 50 sixes in T20Is.
