Hanuma Vihari was a part of the XI during the first Test match against South Africa which was played in Visakhapatnam, but he failed to make a mark with the bat managing just 10 runs. Eventually, he was replaced by Umesh Yadav for the second and third Test matches played at Pune and Ranchi.

The reliable 26-year-old batted brilliantly at Sabina Park during India’s tour of West Indies thereby registering his first-ever Test century which almost assured his spot in the Indian Test XI. But, Vihari is likely to be left out of the XI against Bangladesh as India’s batting is looking formidable currently with Rohit Sharma carrying his limited-overs exploits into the Tests as well.

Though there are no doubts regarding Vihari’s caliber, it will remain a big challenge for him to break into the XI once again, given the kind of form other Indian batsmen are in.
