The Haryana boy made his debut in a first-class match at the age of 19 against Madhya Pradesh in a match at Indore. The splendid leggie broke into the Mumbai Indians team, where he didn’t have a successful debut season. However, his real IPL deal began when he was roped in by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the 2014 auction.

He became an integral part of the RCB squad and led the spin attack with full confidence. Having played all the matches in the 2105 season, he became Virat’s go-to-man in crunch situations and fared well. In 84 IPL matches, he has 100 wickets to his credit with an economy of 7.78 and 4/25 as his best bowling match figures.

Just after his great stint with the Challengers in 2015, he received a national cap the very next year against Zimbabwe in ODI. Having flaunted class for the Men in Blue for four years now, he has 91 ODI and 55 T20I wickets to his credit. He is yet to make a Test debut for the national side. Chahal is always a strong contender in the race to clinch the purple cap in IPL.
