Anushka Sharma sportingly replies to her memes on her upcoming flick Sui Dhaaga

On the second week of August, the trailer of Sui Dhaaga, Anushka Sharma’s upcoming movie to be released on September 28, came out and it became an instant hit. The movie also features popular actor Varun Dhawan. Moreover, the better half of Virat Kohli, the captain of the Indian cricket team, became a butt of jokes on the social media platforms.

Numerous memes surrounding a couple of her scenes in the upcoming movie went viral. In some pictures, even Kohli was also involved. However, the jokes didn’t ruffle Anushka’s feathers by any means. Rather, she took them sportingly and appreciated the fact that people can associate themselves with the role she plays in the movie.

It takes a lot of work to play a character

“I thought the memes were hilarious. I kept sharing them with Varun, Sharat [Katariya, director] and my friends. It is a compliment that my character has been stuck in people’s head after they watched the trailer.

Mamta has become a figure that everyone identifies with. Memes have become a common feature today. People actually dedicate time to make them. But in our case, it happened naturally and that too, on a huge scale,” Anushka Sharma told Mid Day.

Talking about her character in the movie, the 30-year-old drop dead gorgeous heroine said, “It takes a lot of work to play a character that you have not lived. I had to be restrained. Also, Sharat tries to keep the narrative as raw and real as possible. You can’t follow his vision unless you are completely immersed in the character.”

Recently, Anushka and Varun went to Jaipur for the promotion of their movie. There, Anushka was greeted with chants of ‘Kohli Kohli’, which overwhelmed her. She was awestruck by the support shown for her husband. She replied that like everyone else, even she misses her loved one, who is currently in England, playing the five-match Test series, which India have already lost 1-3.
