Asia Cup 2018: Imran Khan to attend India's match against Pakistan in Dubai

The Asia Cup 2018 has already been a witness to a few interesting contests. However, the most awaited contest of the event between India and Pakistan is scheduled to be played tomorrow at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. There has been a significant amount of hype prior to the historic match and the clash is undoubtedly expected to be an intensified one.

Virat Kohli, India’s regular all-format captain isn’t a part of the team for the event, and right-handed batsman Rohit Sharma has been passed the baton for the multi-nation tournament. The Delhi-born cricketer’s absence is considered to have weakened the star-studded Indian batting and a number of players from the opposition have talked about taking advantage of the same.

In the meantime, it has been learned that Imran Khan, former all-round cricketer and the Honourable 22nd Prime Minister of Pakistan will attend the blockbuster clash in Dubai. “Prime Minister Imran Khan will watch the Pakistan-India Asia Cup clash in Dubai on Wednesday, diplomatic sources said,” a source was quoted as saying in Geo TV.

Pakistan thumps Hong Kong to start their campaign

Earlier in July, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, led by Imran Khan won the General Elections by beating Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League (PML). In the beginning, the party couldn’t garner a majority, but later they claimed to have achieved the same. Imran’s oath-taking ceremony took place last month in Islamabad and a number of eminent personalities graced their presence.

As far as the Asia Cup is concerned, Pakistan, captained by wicketkeeper Sarfraz Ahmed, have already got themselves off to an impressive start by beating Hong Kong by eight wickets in Dubai. Their fast bowlers did reasonably well and the Pakistani top order tracked down the target of 117 without much fuss. A victory against India will mean that they will finish atop the points table.
