As things stand, Indian skipper Virat Kohli is perhaps the best batsman in the world. With cover-drives and square cuts flowing from his bat with little or no effort, it would seem as though he is unstoppable at the moment. Even his records speak for themselves and has made him a legend of the game all at the age of 29. However, with the Indian tour of Australia coming up and soon, the Australian public certainly hope for a Kohli special down-under.

David Barham, the head of cricket for channel seven stated that the Aussie public were indeed those who appreciated good cricket when they saw it. And in addition to that fact, this will be the first time Kohli will be the full-time captain as the Indians go on tour to Australia.

“Kohli is a polarising character, but I think Aussies love Virat Kohli and I think Virat Kohli will be as big a star of the summer as much as our guys,” Channel Seven’s head of cricket David Barham told Fairfax Media.

‘Will make for a great summer’s cricket’

Barham went on to add that he was indeed positive that Kohli will be a class-act when it comes to playing Australia as he has done on several occasions in the past. He also added that both Indian and Australian cricketers were on par when it came to the fans and the skills.

“If he makes hundred after hundred, we’ll talk about Virat Kohli. I’m sure he’ll do it in his own way and he will be niggling, doing what he does – fantastic. It’ll make for a great summer’s cricket. We’ll be celebrating the Indian players and their skill as much as our players.”
