Indian women are gearing up to face Australian women for their all-format tour set to begin on Tuesday (21 September). Ahead of the ODI series, pacer Stella Campbell had a memorable outing in the warm-up match against India as her three wickets helped the hosts win the match by 36 runs. The 19-year-old’s stupendous performance against a quality team, like India, has now given her hope and optimism of making her debut in the upcoming three-match ODI series.

The pacer dismissed Shafali Verma, Richa Ghosh, and Sneh Rana to solidify her case. Campbell has long been earmarked as a future bowler in the Australian team, owing to her consistency in her line and lengths. She is also a regular for Sydney Sixers in the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) and has shown a tremendous rise in the past two years or so.

“(An ODI debut) would be a dream come true, but I’m just here to enjoy the experience, learn, and improve as much as I can. But if that was to happen, that would be a pretty cool opportunity,” Campbell told cricket.com.au.

Campbell, one of the three pace bowlers on the Australian side, has the rare ability to pose questions to the batters with her extra pace and height. Along with Perry, Campbell offers an extra seam option. “It’s pretty simple I’m a tall fast bowler so they just want me to run in hard, bowl fast, and be an intimidator,” Campbell said.

Stella Campbell feeling relaxed in her process

Australia are known to produce top-quality pacers from generations. Be it Cathryn Fitzpatrick, Ellyse Perry, Megan Schutt, or the latest Tayla Vlaeminck. Now, Campbell hopes to replicate these by putting in the hard yards. She also spoke about her role in the Sixers that has helped her to become a wicket-taker for the team. She concluded by saying that she trusts the process and always tries to best for the team.

“That’s been my role with (Sydney Sixers) for the past few seasons now so I feel like I’m really able to nail it,” she said talking about the warm up match Campbell said: “I felt pretty good. I felt like I had a good rhythm, I felt comfortable and relaxed in my process, so I was able to go out there and do my best.”
