The Big Bash League (BBL) will be back for it’s yet another season and it will surely serve the cricketing fans with plenty of entertainment. The eight city-based franchises will compete for a coveted trophy in a round-robin and knockout format. The extravaganza commences on 19th December with the defending champions Adelaide Strikers squaring off against the champions of the 2012-13 season, Brisbane Heat.

The BBL, like any other T20 competition, witnesses all the active and inactive players in international cricket. However, certain players at the highest level may just hang their boots even from the two-month tournament due to their age factor or lack of contributing enough to the team.

Here we bring you the players who might be playing their last season:

Michael Klinger was one of the few players who had a prolific record in first class as well as T20 cricket but received his first call-up to the national team at the age of 36. He made his T20 international debut against Sri Lanka in February 2017.

The 38-year old is the highest run-scorer in the overall Big Bash League with 1802 runs in 61 matches. He has played 185 T20 matches and scored over 5000 runs. Having played for Adelaide Strikers previously till 2014, Klinger has been part of Perth Scorchers since 2015. He had a decent season last year, crunching 281 runs in nine matches.

Having called stumps on his first-class career, Klinger, owing to his age, could also call it quits from the Big Bash League at the end of this season.
