The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has played an important role in the rise of Afghanistan cricket over the years. They awarded a special ground in Noida for them to practice with all the facilities available and the results have followed as they are set to play their debut Test match against India in a couple of days time. However, the latest step of BCCI as going to garner more praise as they have decided to arrange a dinner party for the visiting side on Tuesday evening.

According to the reports, the party will be held in Bangalore as the team is gearing up for the upcoming Test match against India. This gesture from the Indian cricket board is wonderful as they’ve always lent a helping hand to Afghanistan and the relations between the two boards will only strengthen after this.

Afghanistan is having an exceptional 2018 as they first qualified for the World Cup by winning the qualifying tournament in Zimbabwe and then went on to whitewash Bangladesh in the recently concluded T20I series against Bangladesh. Though their batting looks brittle at times, there is someone or the other who puts his hand up when it matters the most to take his team through.

History set to be created

June 14 will go down in the history books of Afghanistan cricket as they will don the white jerseys for the first time ever and step out on the field against the World number 1 Test side. Though they are not the overwhelming favourites to win the game, the team will look to put up a stunning fight.

The visitors have beefed up the squad with four spinners and it is no surprise that Rashid Khan will lead the bowling attack and will be expected to continue his good showing in the longest format as well. The hosts will be wary of the threat he possesses and have called up the wrist-spinners to bowl to their batsmen in the nets as well.
