BPL 2019: Khulna Titans rope in Irishman Paul Stirling

The sixth season of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) is scheduled to get underway on 5th of January, 2019. After it’s five successful seasons, the next edition of the T20 franchise cricket is all set to entertain the cricket-crazy supporters in Bangladesh. The Khulna Titans have roped in the explosive Irish opening batsman Paul Stirling for the forthcoming season.

Paul Stirling has previously played for Sylhet Sixers in the 2013 edition and was adjudged the Man of the Match in his very first innings, scoring a half-century against the Barisal Burners. He also ended up as one of the top run-scorers for that season, accumulating 323 runs.

Born in Belfast, Stirling will join his second franchise and will have his Middlesex teammate Dawid Malan by his side. The Khulna-based franchise has also drafted some of the formidable players from the international circuit in Brendan Taylor, Lasith Malinga, Dawid Malan and Carlos Brathwaite.

The Khulna Titans have managed to make it to the playoffs thrice, coming exceptionally close to the title. However, with Stirling included in a commanding squad, the franchise will look to grab their first title.

Stirling excited and looking forward to BPL  

After the 28-year old received the news of his inclusion with the franchise, he was overwhelmed and is thoroughly looking forward to working with the coach along with being one of the greatest and the most respected cricketers in Mahela Jayawardene.

“I was delighted to hear Khulna Titans were interested in me and jumped at the opportunity. Apart from being a great tournament to be part of, I’m looking forward to the opportunity of working with the coach Mahela Jayawardene – one of the greatest Sri Lankan batsmen of the last 20 years,” the Irish opener said as quoted by Bdcrictime.

The right-hander has also been part of 174 T20s overall, scoring over 4000 runs, with a hundred to his name. Khulna Titans are scheduled to begin their campaign on January 6th against the Rangpur Riders.
