2. Ruturaj Gaikwad

Ruturaj Gaikwad has been a run-bank in the Indian domestic circuit. The ace batter has featured in 72 List-A matches and amassed 4034 runs at a strike rate of 101.05. He has been sensational in the Indian Premier League too and scored 1207 runs in 36 games at a strike rate of 130.35.

However, the 25-year-old has not had the same success in the international arena. He has made nine appearances for India in the shortest format and could manage only 135 runs at a strike rate of 123.85. However, the Pune-born took the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2022 by storm and plundered 660 runs in five matches at a strike rate of 113.59. Based on his eye-popping displays, Gaikwad has made a comeback to the Indian set-up and will feature in the T20I assignment against Dasun Shanka & co.

However, Ishan Kishan has been India’s go-to man for the opening slot. And as Shubman Gill has done a great job for the Men in Blue and hammered 687 runs in 15 ODIs, the think tank might look at him to partner Kishan at the top. Thus, Gaikwad might not get an opportunity in the T20I entire series.
