In the Indian Premier League (IPL), when any side loses seven wickets under the score of 100, mostly it becomes a matter of time for the bowling team to bundle out the batting sides. However, sometimes a few teams display their spunk in these kinds of crunch situations and fight fiercely to recover from the crises. Talking about such incidents, here are five teams who fought courageously despite losing their seven batters under the score of 100.

5. Mumbai Indians (MI) vs Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) in 2015

In the 2016 IPL contest between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Rising Pune Supergiant (RPS) at the Wankhede Stadium, the former won the toss and elected to bat first. Confronting Pune’s pacers, MI lost their seven batters at a score of 68. Following Ambati Rayudu’s departure, Harbhajan Singh took the matter into his own hands and helped the team complete their 20 overs. Riding on the veteran’s unbeaten 45 off 30, MI posted 121 runs on the board in 20 overs.


4. Chennai Super Kings (CSK) vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in 2011

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) clashed with each other in the 2011 IPL final and the former registered a convincing 58-run win and defended their title successfully. Following an enormous target of 206, Bengaluru lost seven wickets at a score of 92. 

Saurabh Tiwary was the only batter for the Challengers who stood at the crease until the end and reduced the margin of CSK’s victory. Along with the tailender Zaheer Khan, the left-handed batter stitched a 38-run stand. Riding on Tiwary’s 42 off 35, the Challengers reached 147 runs in their 20-over quota.


3. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) vs Delhi Capitals (DC) in 2024

In Match 26 of the 2024 IPL, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Delhi Capitals (DC) squared off with each other at the EKANA Stadium. Batting first after winning the toss, the Super Giants lost seven batters at a score of 94 in 13 overs. However, Ayush Badoni didn’t lose faith and stitched a crucial stand with Arshad Khan. After 20 overs, the Super Giants posted 167 runs on the board.


2. Rajasthan Royals (RR) vs Mumbai Indians (MI) in 2014

The 2014 IPL contest between Rajasthan Royals (RR) and MI in Ahmedabad concluded with the latter’s 25-run victory but RR displayed a fighting spirit after their return of seven stalwarts to the pavilion. Brad Hodge, along with his compatriot James Faulkner, took the innings ahead but, both Aussies’ efforts couldn’t help RR cross the line.


1. Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) vs Gujarat Titans (GT) in 2023

During the clash between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Narendra Modi Stadium, the latter lost seven batters in nine overs at a score of 59 while pursuing a huge target of 189. In the pressure situation, Heinrich Klaasen along with Bhuvneshwar Kumar built a 68-run partnership. SRH couldn’t achieve the target in the end but avoided a heavy defeat, putting up 154 runs in their 20 overs.
