In-form Adelaide Strikers lock horns with a struggling Melbourne Renegades side in match 29 of the ongoing Women's Big Bash League (WBBL) on Wednesday, November 8 in Adelaide.

Led by Tahlia McGrath, Adelaide have managed to win five out of the seven games they have played. They are currently on a three-match winning streak. Katie Mack has been in fine form but fellow opener Laura Wolvaardt has not been able to do justice to her potential.

However, Tahlia has been showing signs of a resurgence after a dismal start to the campaign. The bowling attack has done well with the likes of Megan Schutt and Amanda-Jade Wellington being amongst the wickets.

Melbourne Renegades finished second-last on the points table in 2022. They are having another forgettable campaign as they are languishing at the bottom of the points table with just one win from seven games. Harmanpreet Kaur is the leading run-getter for the side as she has scored 205 runs from seven games at an average of 41.

However, the opening duo of captain Hayley Matthews and Tammy Beaumont have not been able to give the starts that the Renegades would have liked. Georgia Wareham, who has been the leading wicket-taker for the Renegades, has just picked up eight wickets in seven games.

Interestingly, the second innings scores in the two matches were 29 and 89, registered by the Melbourne Stars and Brisbane Heat, respectively. The pitch is generally good for batting and the captain who wins the toss could opt to bat first.  A total in the range of 160-170 won't be easy to hunt down.

Opener Katie Mack has led the way for Adelaide with the bat as she has amassed 292 runs in seven games at an average of 41.71 and a strike rate of 127.51. She has also notched up three half-centuries. Her role at the top of the order is crucial as she has the ability to anchor the innings and accelerate when required.

Amanda-Jade Wellington (Adelaide Strikers women)

The Aussie leg-spinner has been exceptional in the tournament thus far. She has picked up 12 wickets in seven matches at a remarkable average of just 10.17. Her economy rate is just 5.55 and it shows the kind of stranglehold she has had on the batters in the middle overs.
