There are people who forget to have their meals while watching their favorite sport. There have also been cases where people get into weird accidents while being focused in their phones watching a particular game. And in one recent, a Tasmanian man was so engrossed on watching cricket that he failed to notice a tiger snake crawling just past him.
After spending the morning mowing the lawns at Wynyard, Tasmania's north-west coast, Peter Debono went inside for lunch and to watch the Sunday Test match between Australia and South Africa. In all the excitement to watch Travis Head’s innings, he failed to notice a tiger snake on the floor of his kitchen.
"It took me a few seconds to click into gear. It was just bizarre, something you don't expect. We were batting. We were just losing a couple of wickets. I'd left the back door open so it would have just slid straight past me on the lounge into the kitchen. I just sat there, half an eye on the cricket and half an eye on the dishwasher,” he was quoted as saying by ABC News.
The snake crawled under Mr. Debono's dishwasher as he reached for a broom in an effort to drive it out the door. He made a call for assistance, confined his dogs, and kept everything under control until North West Snake Catchers came. Kate Downing, a snake catcher, discovered the snake curled up among the pipes in the cabinet next to the dishwasher. She assumed that the snake, which was nearly a metre long had been attempting to flee the heat.
Australia vs South Africa Gabba Test gets everyone talking
The first Test between Australia and South Africa was actually interesting, as the game ended in just two days. The Gabba wicket did not assist the batters at all, as 34 wickets fell in six sessions within two days. Australia claimed a victory on the second day of the Test match, but the opposition skipper Dean Elgar was not at all happy with how the pitch turned out to be. It will be interesting to see how the upcoming Boxing Day Test turns out to be at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground.
