Pakistan's mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed is looking forward to playing for the Men in Green in the impending T20 World Cup 2024 and is hoping to take the wicket of the legendary Virat Kohli.
Arch-rivals India and Pakistan have been placed in the same group for the last few years in the International Cricket Council (ICC events). That trend continues in next month's T20 World Cup 2024, which is set to be co-hosted by the West Indies and the USA. The two Asian giants are placed in Group A alongside USA, Canada, and Ireland. They will lock horns in a highly-anticipated clash on June 9 at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.

Abrar, who made his international debut in December 2022 against England in a Test match, had to wait till last month to get his maiden T20I cap. He played three out of the five T20Is between Pakistan and New Zealand and picked up two wickets at an impressive economy rate of 5.75. The 25-year-old has been selected in the squad for the Ireland and England series this month. It is expected that Abrar will make it to the 15-man squad for the World Cup in June as well. The talented bowler said that he is focused on winning every game for his nation. However, he revealed that his dream is to take the wicket of former India captain, Kohli, in the forthcoming World event.
“I was named in the squad [for the upcoming] series, I will focus on every match. We have world-class spinners, the goal is to win matches for Pakistan. Our target [in the World Cup] is all teams, [but] my dream is to take the wicket of Virat Kohli,” he added. I’m also trying to improve my batting," Abrar was quoted as saying by Geo Super.

India have won six times out of their seven meetings with Pakistan in the T20 World Cup. This includes victory in the final in 2007 and most recently in Melbourne in 2022. Pakistan's only win came in the 2021 edition of the T20 World Cup, as they beat their age-old rivals by 10 wickets.
