Pakistan made it into the final of the 2022 T20 World Cup for the first time since their maiden triumph in 2009. Although their run through the final hasn't been perfect, the Men in Green are on the verge of making history in the clash against England on Sunday at the MCG. The Asian side are confident of their chances heading into the all-important clash but the Pakistani skipper was seemingly flustered after he was asked a question regarding the IPL in the presser.
The Men in Green were on the brink of an early exit from the ongoing tournament in Australia after succumbing to narrow defeats in their two opening fixtures. But a slice of luck coupled with clinical performances have brought them just one step away from glory. While the PCB chief Ramiz Raza took a dig at the IPL after India's embarrassing defeat against England, Babar Azam refrained from making any comments on the cash-rich Indian domestic league.
Babar Azam was stumped after bizarre question about the IPL
The Pakistani skipper needed the intervention of the Pakistan media manager standing beside him, to relieve him of the bewildering query. The journalist had enquired Babar about the possible benefits of playing in the IPL for the Pakistani players.
“Talk about the benefits of playing the IPL, is that something you feel would help you and your team and is that something you have any hope for in the future?,” asked the journalist. Babar immediately turned to his team's media manager, who stated, “We are taking questions on the World Cup final at the moment.”

It is worth noting that the two neighbours share a turbulent political relationship that has barred the Pakistani players from participating in the IPL since 2009. They last appeared in the league in its inaugural edition after the 2007 T20 World Cup. A win for either Pakistan or England will make them only the second team to lift the trophy twice, along with the West Indies.
