Team Australia completed an easy victory over Sri Lanka in Perth on Tuesday, October 25. Marcus Stoinis was the star performer for the Aussie team as he stroked 59 runs off just 18 balls and was adjudged Player of the Match for his excellent performance with the bat.

Meanwhile, in the same match, Australian pacer  Mitchell Starc gave a warning to Sri Lankan batter Dhananjaya de Silva who was venturing outside the crease at the non-striker's end according to Starc. As per the MCC rules, a bowler can run out a batter at the non-striker’s end without giving any warning if the latter is found outside of his crease before the ball comes into play.

There should not be any fuss about it: Wasim Jaffer on running out the non-striker

Meanwhile, former India cricketer Wasim Jaffer and Australia's veteran Stuart Law have given their opinion on the matter.

“There’s nothing wrong in running out the batter at non-striker’s end without giving a warning. It’s the responsibility of the batter to stay in the crease. There shouldn’t be any fuss about it. I won't say cheating, but if a batter is taking advantage by backing up then the bowler has every right to run out the batter,” Wasim Jaffer said on 'BatBricks7 presents Run Ki Runneeti' on CricTracker.

Law also supported the new law stating that batters should only be allowed to move out of their crease as long as the ball is in play.

"The game has changed and it is moving forward in an alarming manner. Previously it happened occasionally, but now the rule has been re-written in the MCC rule book and the bowler has every right to run out the batter. As long as the ball is in play, I think the batters can move out of their crease. But nowadays, if you are out of the crease and the bowler has not bowled the delivery and disturbs the bails then you are a 'silly' man or woman," said Stuart Law.
