Despite losing the first match against the English team, Afghanistan's luck played in their favor as they had to share points with New Zealand, who are in outstanding form, and Ireland. On the other hand, Sri Lanka are coming from two losses against Australia and New Zealand after defeating Ireland in their first match. The Shanaka-led team are doing good despite their losses against the heavyweights, while Afghanistan have also given good competition to the English players.

Afghanistan will be eager to play against the Lankans as two of their 3 matches were washed out and they would love to register extra points on the table for themselves. However, Lankans are coming from heavy losses and it is very crucial for them to outplay the Afghans and win the match to remain in the competition.

Rajapaksa and Nissanka are doing good in the tournament with the latter scoring 137 runs in the tournament so far and is expected to show some class in the upcoming match too. On the other hand, Hasaranga has been among their best bowlers, he also has the record for most wickets in the tournament with 10 scalps. Afghanistan will depend on the all-around performance of Nabi and Rashid while Gurbaz and Zazai can also be a game-changer for them.
