After a massive victory over West Indies in their first match of the T20 World Cup, Scotland will be confident to get a win over Ireland, when these two sides meet at Bellerive Oval on October 19. Now, despite losing to Zimbabwe in the previous match, the Irish boys can’t be taken lightly, especially when they will be playing a must-win game to keep their boat afloat.

Be it their bowling or batting, the Scots were top-notch against the two-time world champions in the last match. George Munsey gave Scotland the perfect start and based on that, the Richie Berrington-led side posted a healthy total of 160 runs after 20 overs.

Coming to the bowlers, they gave no room to the Caribbeans to dominate and it resulted in a massive 42-run victory over them. This win against West Indies will give Scotland a lot of confidence as they aim to qualify for the Super 12 for the second time in two years. Against Ireland, the team needs to stay disciplined and play to their merit to clinch a memorable victory.

In the meantime, Ireland will be looking to improve their bowling performance. Batting has been decent as it of course has room for improvement but when it comes to bowling, they looked pretty average. Other than Joshua Little, who’s considered the future of Irish cricket, all the other bowlers leaked a lot of runs and thus, the team never looked to take control of the match. Thus, it will be interesting to see what changes Ireland make in order to find the lost glory.

Pitch Conditions

Bellerive Oval often provides a track that suits both the departments of the game. Batting will become relatively easy with the passing of time as bowlers will get enough pace and bounce from the surface to make the ball talk. Batting first and putting pressure on the opponent will be a smart decision from the captain winning the toss.
