PBKS vs LSG, IPL 2023 Match 38 Stats Review: Marcus Stoinis' heroics, LSG's historic score and other stats

Ruthless power-hitting from batters followed by a clinical bowling display saw Lucknow Super Giants beat Punjab Kings by a margin of 56 runs in match number 38 of the Indian Premier League 2023 

The hosts won the toss and opted to bowl first, LSG got off to a brisk start in the powerplay as Kyle Mayers and KL Rahul added 41 runs in 3.2 overs, but Kagiso Rabada drew the first blood for PBKS as KL Rahul departed after a nine ball 12-run cameo. Kyle Mayers and Ayush Badoni kept the scoreboard ticking by adding valuable 33 runs for the second wicket. 

Meanwhile Mayers (54 off 24) rose to his fourth fifty in IPL, which included seven fours and four maximums. Marcus Stoinis (72 off 40) and Nicholas Pooran (45 off 19) then kept the scoreboard ticking by adding valuable 76 runs at a rapid rate in the middle and death overs which helped LSG to post huge total of 257/5 in their allotted 20 overs. 

In response to 257, Marcus Stoinis drew the first blood for LSG in the very first over as Shikhar Dhawan departed scoring just one run off two balls. Soon Naveen-ul-Haq sent Prabhsimran Singh for 9(13). Atharva Taide and Sikandar Raza kept the game going by adding valuable 78 runs for third wicket partnership. 

Ravi Bishnoi broke the third-wicket stand by sending back Raza for 36 off 22. Atharva Taide registered his first fifty of IPL before getting dismissed by Ravi Bishnoi. Lower order batters led the fight back with few cameos but couldn’t take PBKS over the line as LSG won the contest by 56 runs
