In the eighth encounter of the 2024 Women's Premier League, UP Warriorz clashed with Gujarat Giants at the iconic M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The pivotal toss was won by UP Warriorz, who chose to field first, setting the stage for an intriguing battle.

Gujarat Giants, batting first, saw a promising start as openers Laura Wolvaardt and captain Beth Mooney added a commendable 40-run partnership for the initial wicket. However, after Mooney's departure, Harleen Deol faced a challenging phase, managing only 18 runs from 24 balls.

The momentum shifted with the dynamic duo of Phoebe Litchfield and Ashleigh Gardner, who collaborated effectively to contribute 35 and 30 runs, respectively. This partnership propelled Gujarat Giants to a respectable total of 142 within their allotted 20 overs. The standout performance came from UPW's bowler Sophie Ecclestone, who claimed three crucial wickets in her four-over spell and conceded just 20 runs.

In pursuit of this modest target, UPW's opening pair, Kiran Navgire, and captain Alyssa Healy dominated the initial power play, accumulating 42 runs in just 4.3 overs. Healy showcased exceptional form, amassing 33 runs from 21 balls. Coming into bat at four, Grace Harris stole the spotlight with a sensational innings, scoring a brilliant 60 off 33 balls with nine fours and two towering sixes, showcasing a blend of power and finesse.

Deepti Sharma contributed a valuable 17 off 14 balls, complementing the stellar performance, leading UPW to a comfortable victory by six wickets. In the bowling department for Gujarat, Tanuja Kanwar stood out, claiming two wickets while Meghna Singh and Kathryn Bryce contributed with one wicket each.

Going forward, on March 4th, Royal Challengers Bangalore are set to take on UP Warriorz at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Meanwhile, Gujarat Giants are slated to play their upcoming match against the Capitals at the same venue in Bengaluru on March 3.
