Just like the T20I series, the winner of the 3-match ODI series between England and India will be decided in the final game after both the teams comfortably won the first two matches. England’s strategy of bowling second and asking India to chase on a slower surface did work for them in the 2nd ODI. They will still be hoping to put on a better show against Kuldeep Yadav while for India their middle-order has to take the responsibility and set up if top-order has an off day.

All the key stats and numbers ahead of the series-decider between England and India:

2 – India have won only two ODI while chasing a target of 300 and more in 16 ODI matches played in the last five years. They defeated Australia in the 2016 Sydney ODI and England in the 2017 Kolkata ODI. The Wellington ODI in 2014 against New Zealand ended in a tie. India were on the losing side in the remaining 13 matches in these five years while chasing a target over 300.


6England won all the six bilateral ODI series’ they played at home since they lost 3-2 to Australia in 2015. India have won their last nine bilateral series’ in this format since the loss at the hands of Australia (4-1)  at the start of 2016.


48 – Number of wickets for Kuldeep Yadav has picked in his 22-match ODI career. If he takes two more wickets in the final ODI, he will become the joint 2nd quickest to complete 50 wickets in this format. The leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has bagged 45 wickets in his 25-match ODI career.


152 – The Leeds stadium has been a successful one for Moeen Ali in the ODI format as he has scored 152 runs in four innings at this venue getting out only once. Ali took eight wickets at this venue as he bagged two wickets each in all the four ODIs at Headingley.


75.17Rohit Sharma’s batting average in the six bilateral ODI series-deciders he has featured in. He scored 426 runs in three innings including two big centuries at an average of 142 while batting first but only 25 runs at an average 8.3 in the three innings while chasing.


2012 – England have not lost an ODI game at Headingley, Leeds since the start of 2012. They defeated India, Australia, Pakistan and South Africa respectively in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017. Two other ODIs they played at this venue were abandoned without even the toss. Three of those four completed matches witnessed a total over 290 in the first innings.


7987 – Runs Suresh Raina has scored in his International career thus far. The left-handed batsman needs 13 more runs to become the 15th Indian player to score 8000 runs in International cricket.


16987 – Joe Root needs 13 more runs to complete 17000 runs across all formats in his professional career while the young Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya (983) needs 17 more runs to reach the 1000-run milestone in List A cricket.
