The Day 4 of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier 2019 will see two matches being played from Group A. Group B will witness three matches on Monday. As far as Group A is concerned, Scotland will face the in-form Papua New Guinea side. The PNG has thrashed Namibia and Bermuda so far. But the tougher matches in the tournament might have just begun for them.
Scotland, on the other hand, shrugged off their defeat to Singapore and staged a comeback to beat Kenya. They are a much stronger side compared to PNG. But surely they can’t take things for granted against the team which has won both their matches so far. Kenya and Bermuda is the other match in Group A which will be played at the ICC Academy in Dubai.
Pitch and Weather Report (Dubai)
One thing is for sure in Dubai. There will be no rain at all. The sun will be out and the temperature could even reach 36 Degrees Celsius during the course of the day. The players will need to stay hydrated to not suffer from the heat.
It has all been about batting first at the ICC Academy in Dubai. Out of the four matches played, only PNG have won chasing a total at the venue. But they were chasing only 90 runs which was never going to challenge them. The trend of the batting first should continue on Monday.
Match 14 – Scotland vs Papua New Guinea
Scotland
Scotland has successfully come back to settle down in the tournament. It is about carrying the momentum for them now and for that to happen, their batting line-up should be consistent. The likes of Munsey, Coetzer and MacLeod have to bat well. Richie Berrington is a good all-round package. The move to bench Alasdair Evans worked and Mark Watt is likely to continue in his place. Sharif and Davey have been brilliant with the ball so far.
Probable XI: George Munsey, Kyle Coetzer (C), Calum MacLeod, Richie Berrington, Ollie Hairs, Matthew Cross (WK), Tom Sole, Safyaan Sharif, Josh Davey, Mark Watt, Hamza Tahir.
Papua New Guinea
PNG have no reason to change their winning line-up. But even they will realise that the team has to play out of their skins to have any chance of beating Scotland. Assad Vala’s all-round skills are important for them while Tony Ura should look to bat through now having gained form at the right time. Norman Vanua has been doing well with the ball for them while Nosaina Pokana is also expected to keep chipping in with the wickets.
Probable XI: Tony Ura, Assad Vala (C), Lega Siaka, Charles Amini, Sese Bau, Norman Vanua, Kiplin Doriga, Jason Kila, Riley Hekure, Damien Ravu, Nosaina Pokana.

Match 17 – Kenya vs Bermuda
Kenya
Kenya’s bowling has been a problem for them so far. The batsmen have been scoring close to 140 consistently. But conceding more than 160 runs with the ball isn’t helping their cause. Collins Obuya has been the only consistent wicket-taker and the rest have to put their hands up if they are to revive their T20 World Cup Qualifier 2019 campaign. Irfan Karim should also look to be consistent with the bat after a good outing in the previous game.
Probable XI: Irfan Karim (WK), Alex Obanda, Dhiren Gondaria, Collins Obuya, Rakep Patel, Shem Ngoche (C), Jasraj Kundi, NM Odhiambo, Lucas Oluoch, Elijah Otieno, Pushpak Kerai
Bermuda
Bermuda put up a strong show against Singapore with the bat. Janeiro Tucker held one end well to slam an unbeaten 50 off just 34 deliveries. Delray Rawlins endured a rare failure on the day and if he gets going, then they can certainly post a total in excess of 150 batting first. Bowling though needs to improve which is struggling to keep the run-flow in check in the middle overs.
Probable XI: Okera Bascome (WK), Terryn Fray, Dion Stovell (C), Janeiro Tucker, Delray Rawlins, Kamau Leverock, Deunte Darrell, Malachi Jones, Rodney Trott, Onais Bascome, George O Brien.
