Indian cricket team indulges in a series of selfies on their way to Sri Lanka

The entire Indian cricket team seemed to sport a jovial mood as they indulged in a selfie spree en route to Sri Lanka for their upcoming series. While almost all of the current crop of Indian cricketers are known to post a picture or two of themselves occasionally to connect with fans and keep them posted on their activities, on Wednesday social media saw a wave of pictures from almost all the players in the squad.

Ranging from skipper Virat Kohli to spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, nearly everybody tweeted a snap of themselves or with some teammate. The Indian cricket team has been in the eye of the storm for quite some time, regarding the controversy shrouding the appointment of the coach. Ravi Shastri has been chosen as the head coach of the team, while Bharat Arun has been named the bowling coach. India is set to play three Tests, five ODIs and a one-off T20I against Sri Lanka in the upcoming tour.

The left-handed opener, Shikhar Dhawan, who has been included in the squad after Murali Vijay was ruled out with an injury, posted a picture of himself with pacers, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Ishant Sharma in the background. The two pacers, on their part, posted a selfie together, which Bhuvi clicked and Sharma posted on his Instagram handle.

Umesh Yadav, the other fast bowler in the side apart from Mohammed Shami posted a selfie with caption: “Off to Colombo #srilanka#”.

Newly appointed coach, Shastri, who has his task cut out for him in the upcoming series, wasn’t far behind, as he posted a collage of him along with the players, with the caption: “Great to unite with the boys again. Feels like yesterday #TeamIndia”.

The series against Sri Lanka is set to start with a 2-day practice match between the Sri Lanka Board Presidents XI and India on July 21.
