IPL 2018: Bookie arrested in Dhanbad

The Dhanbad police arrested another person yesterday and claimed to have busted a syndicate engaged in gambling on matches. The management is known to take strict actions against the accused to ensure that such activities do not happen in future.

Search operation underway

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Law and Order, Mukesh Kumar told reporters that based on a tip-off about the bookie’s whereabouts at Dimond Crossing near Dhanbad railway station, a police team conducted a raid and nabbed him. Police have recovered INR 11,500, a mobile phone and papers connected with gambling. A search operation is underway to track others involved in the racket.

It is necessary for the security personnel to remain vigil at all times to ensure that such people do not bring down the value and name of the tournament. The Indian Premier League is a platform where players from all over the world compete to outclass one another. It cannot be used as a platform to make money through betting and gambling.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad remain on top of the table with two wins at a good net run rate.
