Rajasthan Royals are returning to the fray along with Chennai Super Kings in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). There is already a lot of buzz around both the franchises as their fans are eagerly waiting for the teams to take the field. While Royals have been jolted a severe blow with Steve Smith not playing the tournament, yet another key player is set to delay his arrival. However, Australian cricketer, D’Arcy Short won’t be able to reach in time for IPL courtesy a passport blunder.

Royals are keen on performing well in their comeback season but the circumstances are getting difficult for them even before the season has commenced. Ajinkya Rahane has been named the skipper of the team for this season as they have kept Smith in the squad to welcome him back next year. While the local players have joined the camp, the overseas players are slowly reaching their destination.

Till when he will arrive?

According to reports in Sportstar, D’Arcy Short had lost his passport and has applied a fresh one. The close source of Short has confirmed that the new passport was not sent in a right way. “Instead of sending the passport by air freight, it was sent by road freight. That led to the delay and he could not be in India on time,” he said. However, Royals camp is working hard to solve the issue of the cricketer.

“Things have got delayed since it’s Easter and most of the offices are shut. The Royals team management is working hard to solve the issue,” the source informed.

D’Arcy Short set the stage on fire in the recent Big Bash League (BBL) season which helped him in bagging a whopping amount of Rs 4 Crore in the auction when Royals picked him. He was expected to join the squad on Sunday but will now only be able to arrive in India later next week just in time for the opening game of the team on April 9.
