Those days are long gone when people thought T20 format is a batsman thing. Any doubt? Ask the batsmen, who have faced Delhi Capitals quick Kagiso Rabada. They will give a note on how tough it is to face a bowler despite the short format. In the inception, when T20 format was launched, it was wreckage all around by the batsmen. But, now the trend is of bowler challenging a batsman with his outstanding skills with the ball. Of late we have seen best bowling teams making top spot in the points table.

As days pass by, the league is getting interesting. On Thursday, two best bowling sides will clash. Delhi Capitals will host Mumbai Indians in a high-octane and much-awaited match. The young Delhi side has been instrumental at their pace, starting the league with a little huff & puff, now they are in a different league altogether. Shreyas’ boys have been in good shape in the last three matches. They won three consecutive matches, in which Rabada’s display has been outstanding.

While Mumbai, despite having a great start, is still on-off with five wins and three losses out of eight matches so far. Having the veteran bowler Lasith Malinga in a full swing after picking up four wickets in the previous match to help his side have the last laugh. With the record’s man Alzarri Joseph confirmed to miss the rest of the tournament, Mumbai will look at veteran Sri Lankan pacer to collapse Delhi’s batting line-up.

Mumbai in their first match of the season lost to Delhi Capitals with a big margin of 37 runs. Can the MI Paltan exact revenge on the in-form Delhi side? Fans need to glued to TV screens on Thursday evening.

Team Combinations

Delhi Capitals

Capitals clan seems like getting stronger as days pass by. With a well-balanced team, they had only one issue of lack of good opening partnership so far. But, as far as either of the opener is helping the team to score big totals, it safe for the team. Colin Munro gets on board in the previous match, in place for Ingram.

The New Zealand southpaw’s knock had come in handy in the previous match. In the middle, Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant have been handling well. The all-rounders, Chris Morris and Keemo Paul are in right place. Rabada has been at his element this season so far.

Probable XI: Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Colin Munro, Shreyas Iyer (c), Rishabh Pant (wk), Chris Morris, Axar Patel, Keemo Paul, Rahul Tewatia, Kagiso Rabada, Ishant Sharma.

Mumbai Indians

With middle order at the best space for Mumbai Indians in the likes of Pandya brothers. If big Polly gathers his strength to keep up with the team’s pace, it would be the best side of this tournament. Comeback man Malinga snared four wickets in the previous match and seems to be in good form. Mumbai Indians should go into this game with the same team.

Probable XI: Rohit Sharma (c), Quinton de Kock (wk), Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Kieron Pollard, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Rahul Chahar, Jason Behrendorff, Lasith Malinga, Jasprit Bumrah.

Focus will be on

Delhi Capitals: Prithvi Shaw

The Delhi opener shone only in one match against Kolkata Knight Riders when he fell short of a century by just one run. But, after that, he has failed to grab eyeballs. Now it is important for the young sensation to take this encounter with Mumbai as a challenge to pip the IPL juggernauts.

Mumbai Indians: Lasith Malinga

Mumbai had a tongue in cheek situation when Alzarri Joseph had a gruelling shoulder injury as the Caribbean proved to be a record maker this season. But, in his comeback match, Malinga picked up four wickets to make his own mark for the team. Coming into this game against Delhi Capitals, he seems to be in brilliant form. Can he continue to wreak havoc against batting bulldozers Delhi Capitals?
