Under the fellowship of Shreyas Iyer and Ricky Ponting, in reality, this team has completely refurbished themselves in terms of their performances in the last two seasons. With a strong Indian batting core along with a splendid variety in their spin department, the team is a well-equipped side and will be once again expected to book their place in the playoffs. Their biggest source of success and has been the exhibition of the two overseas pacers strategy with Kagiso Rabada being the leader.

Hence in that sense, the South African speedster can be surely regarded as DC’s strongest capped player with even numbers placing him at the top. Last year, with his 30 wickets from 17 games, Rabada won the Purple cap award and was always seen as skipper’s go-to man for fetching important wickets. Ever in terms of leaking runs, Kagiso’s overall economy rate was a tad above 8. Hence with the upcoming edition happening at small Indian venues, the DC fans would be expecting the South African pacer to continue from where he had left in the IPL.

Talking further about Rabada then, both he and Anrich Nortje will be expected to miss the initial weeks of the IPL because of their national commitments against Pakistan. In that sense, the newly acquired Umesh Yadav will be bound to get infused into the playing XI. The Indian pacer before getting bagged by DC had a depressing last season with RCB and was eventually left out from the playing XI after leaking runs at an economy of more than 11. But with a strong environmental chance where Umesh will get fostered under Ricky Ponting’s coaching, the DC fans would be anticipating him to become a revelation.
