The Mumbai Indians (MI) suffered a five-wicket defeat in their 3rd match of IPL 2022 against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) after a let down by their bowlers. Their bowlers couldn’t defend a decent total of 162 runs. The bowling unit gave away 73 runs in the last 8 overs while Daniel Sams gave 50 runs in his 3 overs while taking a wicket.

However, their batting unit was in a decent form, with Suryakumar Yadav scoring 52 runs off just 36 balls and the debutant Dewald Brevis scoring a fiery 29 runs off just 19 balls. Tilak Varma also contributed a decent total of 38 runs. Meanwhile, captain and opener Rohit Sharma failed to deliver yet again.

A disappointing display of bowling by Daniel Sams and the lack of discipline from Basil Thampi and the other bowlers were the factors that helped KKR win the match where MI was in control till the 15th over. For the 4th match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on April 9, the team might make some changes to their team and strategy to secure their first victory.

Let’s look at the three changes MI should make against RCB:

1) Suryakumar Yadav opens with Ishan Kishan

Although the captain Rohit Sharma has been an excellent opener for Mumbai Indians as well as the Indian cricket team, he is out of form currently and has failed to perform as an opener in all the three matches so far.

Meanwhile, Suryakumar Yadav was not available for the first two matches but he scored a fiery 50 in his first game against the KKR which shows that he is in good touch and perfectly suitable for opening the innings with Ishan Kishan.

Therefore, Suryakumar Yadav can open the innings with Ishan Kishan in place of Rohit Sharma, while the MI captain can bat at three just to give more time for himself to regain his touch.
