The 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) consists of a total of 10 teams and has been underway for more than a month now, and will be concluded in the last week of May. In a long tournament, like the IPL, it’s important for every player to maintain their fitness and form for a longer duration of time. The momentum usually plays a key role for the team as well as the player and it is one of the key factors affecting their performances.

In the ongoing season, few of the players started the tournament on a brighter note, which helped their respective teams to win crunch moments and get an upper hand in the fixtures. However, some of them have lost their form and place in the side as well due to the cut-throat competition between the players in the squad. Here are –

The batter from Karnataka had been displaying his ability in the Karnataka Premier League (KPL) for the last couple of years. In the 2021/22 domestic season, he finally made his debut for the Karnataka state team. In his very first T20 fixture against Saurashtra, Abhinav Manohar slammed an unbeaten 70 off 49 balls and hogged the limelight, which helped him to get a contract from Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2022 mega auction.

In his first game against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), he started off with 15* off seven, with three boundaries. Then, Manohar returned with a single-digit score against Delhi Capitals (DC). He returned to form by hitting 35 off 21 against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), and then followed it up with 43 off 28 balls against Rajasthan Royals (RR). In both these games, he stitched a crucial partnership along with the captain Hardik Pandya.

However, his last three scores read as 0, 2, and 12, which depicts his struggle to get going in the middle overs. In the team’s second game against Sunrisers and his last appearance, Manohar looked out of touch, with Umran Malik breaching his defence. With these low scores, he was left out from the side in fixtures against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and PBKS.
