The 41st match of the IPL 2022 saw a clash between the Delhi Capitals and the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Both teams were struggling to get some points on board. While DC still had a better performance in the previous few games, KKR had a long-losing trot as they had been defeated in their previous four games. KKR failed to get their game straight yet again as DC made the game look like a cakewalk and won it by four wickets.

For KKR, everything went wrong from the start. Aaron Finch didn’t get the luck he wanted, as a reckless swing across the line ripped his off pole to bits. Venkatesh Iyer’s dry spell persisted, as KKR could score mere 29 runs in the powerplay at the loss of two wickets. Chetan Sakariya, who made his debut for Delhi and scalped his first wicket for the side, was brilliant with the new ball.

Shreyas Iyer found an ally in the form of Nitish Rana as the two put up a crucial partnership of 48 runs for the fifth wicket after Kuldeep Yadav had struck twice in an over to reduce KKR to 37/4 at the end of eight overs. While Rana brought up his 15th IPL half-century, a cameo by Rinku Singh helped KKR to reach 146 in 20 overs. Kuldeep Yadav’s four-wicket haul and Muztafizur Rahman scalping three wickets in the final over put DC in command at the end of the first innings.

Rovman Powell helped DC sail through KKR

Coming into the chase, the Capitals looked in a spot of bother when Prithvi Shaw and Mitchell Marsh fell in the first and second overs respectively, as Kolkata grabbed the upper hand. David Warner and Lalit Yadav put up a 65-run stand for the third wicket and put their team back on track. The game slipped towards KKR again when Umesh Yadav caught two big fishes in the form of Warner and skipper Rishabh Pant.

It was Axar Patel who played a cameo for DC scoring 24 quick runs before he was run out. Rovman Powell stepped into the finisher’s role as he knocked a well-composed 33*(16) to finish the chase in the 19th over, leading his team to a much-needed victory. Kuldeep Yadav’s 4/14 in just three overs helped him take his tally to 17 wickets in the season as he now stands just one place behind Yuzvendra Chahal in the highest wicket-takers list.

Meanwhile, let’s look at the best memes from the game:
