IPL 2022: Ranking teams based on sixes hit by them

When the IPL announced the addition of two new franchises to the tournament, fans expected more entertainment from the blockbuster season, but nobody in their right mind would’ve expected to witness 1062 sixes across 74 games, averaging 14 sixes per game in IPL 2022.

The numbers were helped greatly by the menacing form of Jos Buttler, who was the leading six-hitter in this year’s tournament with 45 sixes to his name. Liam Livingstone showcased his power-hitting abilities in IPL 2022 with 34 sixes. The Englishman recorded the biggest six this year with his 117-meter monstrous hit against Gujarat’s Mohammed Shami. Andre Russell and KL Rahul were the other usual suspects as they hit 32 and 30 sixes, respectively.

10. Gujarat Titans- 79 sixes

The Gujarat Titans fans will not mind this stat one bit, as their team triumphed in the IPL 2022 final by defeating Rajasthan Royals. It’s a surprising stat considering that they have been one of the most consistent batting sides in the competition this year.

David Miller was the team’s leading man in terms of sixes as he hit 23 sixes for the Titans. Hardik Pandya who is a gifted power hitter, curbed his instincts after donning the captaincy role as he finished with 12 sixes. Shubman Gill hit only 11 sixes this year but was 3rd on the list for the most fours this season with 51 to his name followed by skipper Pandya (49).

The all-rounder duo of Rashid Khan and Rahul Tewatia hit nine sixes apiece as they donned the role of pinch hitters in the death overs and scripted some improbable heists for the Gujarat Titans.
