Irfan Pathan used to be one of the brightest talents in Indian cricket. He forayed into international cricket in the same year when India qualified for the Final of the Cricket World Cup in South Africa. He made his debut at the Adelaide Oval in Australia and immediately captured everyone’s imagination with his prowess and exuberance on the cricket pitch.

He had the strength of moving the leather, both in the air and off the deck, an attribute which ruffled the feathers of even the most prolific run scorers in the sport. He never bowled with sheer pace, but nailed swing-bowling with perfection. In 2006, he picked up a hat-trick in the very first over of the match versus Pakistan at the Karachi International Stadium.

However, his ability to move the ball diminished and he gradually lost his spot in the Indian team. He has been straining hard in the domestic circuit in order to stake his claim back in the Indian setup. He used to play for Baroda but will represent Jammu and Kashmir in the upcoming domestic season. The 33-year old will also mentor his new team.

During his career, Irfan also rubbed shoulders with the likes of Wasim Akram who guided him with the art of swing bowling. The teachings have helped him immensely as the seamer has over 300 wickets for India in all formats of cricket. Recently, he delivered some tips to a youngster and helped him with corrections in his bowling action.

A Twitter user asked Pathan to check his friend’s bowling run-up, followthrough and other intricacies of his action. He posted a video of him with a caption which read

“One of my friend named #Aaditya is working so hard @IrfanPathan sir, Can you please have a look at his runup, action & follow through,And suggest him if any correction needed. Please sir @IrfanPathan”

Irfan Pathan was prompt to reply to the message. He wrote

“Too much day light between body the in hands.hands needs to be closer to the body in the run up”
