Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan who began the Ranji Trophy season as the Baroda skipper was omitted midway. Since his performance was decent, it was reported that there was some internal conflict in the Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) which led to his ouster. While Irfan has chosen to remain mum over the topic, he doesn’t shy to smile.

The all-rounder has always had a great fan following in India. He recently answered questions from his fans. He was asked to choose the best batsman he has bowled at and the favourite moment of his career. And he didn’t mince words at all.

Best ever batsman

Irfan felt that he was quite lucky to have played alongside the legends Sachin Tendulkar and VVS Laxman. “I have to say that I’m very lucky to have played alongside two batsmen, VVS Laxman and Sachin Tendulkar. I had to bowl them in the nets and they were the best,” the left-arm swing bowler said while talking on ESPNcricinfo.

He further stated that as opponents, he found former Australian batsman Adam Gilchrist and former Pakistan skipper Inzamam-ul-Haq much difficult to bowl to.

“Talking about internationally, I feel Adam Gilchrist and Inzamam-ul-Haq were the toughest to bowl to. Especially Gilchrist, he could hit you for a pull shot, he could loft you, the margin of error was quite small. Even Inzy was difficult to bowl to,” Irfan added.

Hat-trick against Pakistan or MoM in WT20 final

A fan asked him to pick his favourite moment from the Test hat-trick against Pakistan and winning the Man of the Match in the World T20 2007 final. Pathan reckoned that the MoM performance in the WT20 final slightly held the edge.

“Well that’s a difficult question, but it was really fun bowling the hattrick. Any performance that helps to contribute in winning is memorable. So at the end of the day, you want your team to win. Hence, WT20 performance gave me more satisfaction,” he stated.

When asked which feat will he first tell his kid about, Irfan had a good response, ‘If he’s a genuine cricket lover, then the hat-trick, if not, then WT20.”
