A few weeks back, Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult were working as a united force for Mumbai Indians in the now-postponed Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. However, the friends will turn rivals when they meet in the ICC World Test Championship final, which take will place between India and New Zealand next month.

Both Bumrah and Boult will spearhead their respective team’s bowling attack and would be determined to take their team to glory. With Bumrah and Boult being two of the best fast bowlers going around, it would be interesting to see who performs better in the WTC final.

In an interaction, former England captain Michael Vaughan was asked to pick the better of the two speedsters.  Usually, Vaughan doesn’t hesitate to make sensational statements, but he decided to play safe this time.

“Bumrah or Boult… I can’t decide. I’m going to sit on the fence probably for the first time in my life. I would say Boult because he’s been doing it for longer, but Bumrah is incredible and a brilliantly skilled bowler, bowled so well in England a couple of years ago. So I think it’s very, very close,” Vaughan told Spark Sport.

Michael Vaughan had also opined on Virat Kohli vs Kane Williamson debate

A couple of weeks ago, Vaughan had also shared his opinion on Bumrah and Boult’s national captains, Virat Kohli and Kane Williamson. The former England captain claimed that Williamson is an equally good batsman as Kohli.

However, he said that Virat is considered the ‘best batsman’ because he’s an Indian and has massive popularity on social media. His statement earned a lot of criticism from fans. Nevertheless, he came up with a somewhat diplomatic answer on the Bumrah vs Boult debate.

Notably, the WTC final commences on June 18 at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton. New Zealand have an ideal chance for preparation as they’ll lock horns with the hosts in a two-match Test series ahead of the summit clash. Hence, they can adapt to the English conditions and also identify their best playing XI.

On the other hand, India won’t get any such opportunities as they’ll fly to England on June 2 and will undergo a quarantine period upon their arrival. This means they won’t get much time to get in the groove. Nevertheless, the Indian team has a knack for delivering against the odds, and the Kiwis should be aware of that fact.
