After failing to regain the Ranji Trophy title, the Karnataka State Cricket team, as expected has been a strong squad named on paper at least. This also sees many a prominent player axed from the grand scheme of things, players who have been part of the Karnataka side during their wins in the previous two campaigns.
R Vinay Kumar, the captain of the team is someone the management trusts and will also be the one to lead the side in the upcoming tournament. A lot will be riding for the 32-year old given the fact that he will be looking to prove his fitness as well as make a re-entry into the Indian cricket team as well.
Karun Nair, the rising star of Indian cricket as well as triple-centurion in the Test match against England has been named as Vinay Kumar’s deputy. Shreyas Gopal and Abhimanyu Mithun, perhaps the architects of the wins in the Ranji Trophy a few seasons back have also been omitted from the squad.
Sreenath Aravind, the left-arm pacer has been included with Jagadeesha Suchith also added to the side. Stuart Binny, the latest casualty from the Indian squad has been added along with Mayank Agarwal and R Samarth. David Mathias, the all-rounder has also seemingly lost his place on the side.
The coaching staff remains the same with J Arunkumar and Mansur Ali Khan once again proving to be the best people to take Karnataka forward.
Karnataka Squad: R Vinay Kumar (C), Karun Nair (VC), CM Gautam, Stuart Binny, Mayank Agarwal, Samarth R, J Suchith, Gautham K, KC Cariappa, S Aravind, Shishir Bhavane, Anirudh Joshi, Pavan Deshpande, Pradeep T, Mohd. Taha
