Kevin Pietersen would not be playing the Indian Premier League this time around given the fact that he has been traveling around the world playing a bevy of T20 tournaments. While the most recent one was playing for the Melbourne Stars, Pietersen has taken the executive decision to head back home to England and take the Indian summer off.

Speaking about the manner in which he wanted to pursue his sights in the Indian Premier League, Pietersen once again took to twitter to announce to his fans that he would not be playing in this edition of the Indian Premier League. Moreover, he also went on to state that if he had a choice of buying an IPL team, it would definitely be the Delhi Daredevils.

When tweeting the reason for buying the Delhi Daredevils, Pietersen reflected on the time when he was a player with the Daredevils and had perhaps one of his most successful seasons in the IPL, scoring 300 runs in 8 innings.

A tweet from Pietersen read: “FYI – I won’t be going into the IPL auction. My winter has been too busy with all my travel & I don’t want to spend April/May away too!”

Also, when asked about the Indian Premier League side he’d lie to buy if he were an owner, Pietersen revealed that it would be the Delhi Daredevils. In fact, Pietersen has played for a bevy of teams in the League including the now defunct Deccan Chargers, the Royal Challengers Bangalore, and even the Delhi Daredevils in recent times. He was picked up by the Rising Pune Supergiants the previous season and played for the most part in their colors as well.

Replying to a fan’s tweet, Pietersen said: “I’ve played at a couple of franchises. Which would I want to own? Delhi. I really, really enjoyed my time in Delhi. It’s such a fun city. So definitely, Delhi. I’m sorry I won’t be there this year, but I might be there in some capacity.”
