India extended their lead in the 5-match T20I series to 4-0 against New Zealand as they won the second straight match in the Super Over. India were six down for 88 by 12th over before Manish Pandey’s unbeaten 50 helped India to finish on 165/8 in their 20 overs.

India were economical in their first five overs of the chase before Colin Munro (64 off 47) and Tim Seifert (57 off 39) shared a 74-run stand for the 2nd wicket in only 7.2 overs. The equation came down to 11 runs needed from the last two overs where Navdeep Saini and Shardul Thakur conceded 4 and 6 runs respectively to tie the game. The home team scored 13 runs in the Super Over which India chased down with a ball to spare.

All the statistical highlights from India’s yet another super over win against New Zealand:

India’s longest unbeaten streak:

8 – India have not lost any of their last 8 T20I matches starting from the Mumbai T20I against West Indies; their longest streak without a defeat in the T20I format. India had three streaks of 7 consecutive wins in the past – in 2012-2014, in 2016 and in 2018.

New Zealand’s winless streak:

6 – New Zealand now has failed to win any of their last six matches in the T20I format which includes three defeats and three Tied matches. They lost all the three Tied matches in the Super Over. This 6-match winless streak is New Zealand’s by far the longest in the T20I format at home.

2013 – Last time New Zealand failed to win a T20I at the Westpac Stadium in Wellington was in 2013 against England (10-wicket loss). New Zealand won all the six T20I matches they played here between 2014 and 2019. Coming into this game, New Zealand played 11 T20I games at this venue and won 8 of those.

Another tie involving Ross Taylor and Tim Southee:

10 – Ross Taylor now has been part of 10 Tied matches in International cricket; the most for any player. Martin Guptill and Tim Southee have been part of 8 Tied Internationals apiece and are on the 2nd place in the list.

In fact, this was the 7th Tied International match involving Virat Kohli; the 3rd most for any player and also the joint-most Tied appearances by an Indian alongside MS Dhoni (7).

Economical Jasprit Bumrah:

14 – Jasprit Bumrah had an economy rate below 6 runs in 14 T20I matches where he bowled four overs; the most such instances for any pacer in Men’s T20I cricket. Sohail Tanvir and Tim Southee conceded less than six runs an over in 13 T20I matches apiece.

Bumrah also broke the Indian record during this game as Ravi Ashwin had 13 T20Is where he had an economy rate below 6 even after bowling four overs.

Colin Munro’s good run against India:

4 – Colin Munro now has three fifties and a century in T20Is against India which makes him the first player with four 50+ scores against India in this format. Munro now has scored 411 runs across 11 T20I innings against India; the most number of T20I runs by a player against India.

6045 – Colin Munro completed 6000 runs in the Twenty20 format when he went past his individual score of 19. Munro is now only the 4th player from New Zealand to aggregate 6000+ T20 runs.

Manish Pandey’s unbeaten streaks:

0 – India has not been defeated in any of their last 18 T20I matches with Manish Pandey in the playing XI. The last instance of India losing a T20I with Pandey in the XI was against Sri Lanka in the opening match of the 2018 Nidahas Trophy.

6 – Manish Pandey has not been dismissed in the last six T20 innings he has batted. Pandey scored 172 runs in those six innings which includes two fifties. Manish has also scored 133 runs in his last six T20I innings without getting out.

50* – Pandey became only the 2nd Indian to score a T20I fifty while batting at No.6 or lower position. MS Dhoni scored an unbeaten 52 against South Africa in the 2018 Centurion T20I.

KL Rahul @ 4000:

117 – KL Rahul completed 4000 runs in Twenty20 cricket with his first six of this match. He needed only 117 innings to reach the milestone which makes him the fastest Indian and the 4th quickest overall.
