When the Nidahas Trophy commenced, a lot of eyes were on the comeback man for India – Suresh Raina. Raina had made tall claims of reclaiming the spot in the Indian ODI setup with spirited showings in the shortest format. And hence, in order to achieve that, Raina needed big runs under his belt. However, the southpaw failed to do so.

Barring a knock of 47 against Bangladesh in the fifth match, Raina only looked like a shadow of what he promised to be. In the big finals, he perished for a duck. In the five matches that he played in the series, he could only muster 103 runs. He averaged 20.60 with the bat and that certainly does not look good when one speaks about making comebacks to the national side.

3. Thisara Perera

Thisara Perera has been around for a long time at the international level. Hence, in a tournament such as this, he was expected to play a big role for his side. However, the Sri Lankan skipper failed to deliver in either of the two departments in the game. Even his captaincy looked blunt at times with no intent shown.

With the ball, Perera could only get one wicket in the series, which in itself speaks volumes about his ineffectiveness. Moreover, he failed to control the run flow either. With the bat, Thisara scored 95 runs in 4 matches. This included a top score of 58 in the last league game against Bangladesh. In all fairness, that indeed was a good knock. However, for a player of his experience and caliber, Sri Lanka needed, and deserved more from him.
