Pakistan fought back with the bat on the 4th day after they were reduced to 52/5 in their chase of a 317-run target as their captain Sarfraz Ahmed and Asad Shafiq shared an unbeaten 146-run partnership. Earlier, Sri Lanka were bowled out for just 96 runs in their 2nd innings losing their last five wickets for 62 runs.

Here we look at all the stats and records created during the day’s play.

1 – Haris Sohail became the first player to take three wickets in a single over spell in Test cricket. Three players before him took two wickets in a one-over spell. Michael Clarke picked up three wickets in his 1.5 overs spell against India in 2008 at Sydney.

3 – Number of scores lower than Sri Lanka’s 96 in this game in a Test match in the UAE. Pakistan were bowled out for 59 and 53 respectively against Australia in 2002 at Sharjah. England were bowled out for 72 while chasing 145 against Pakistan at Abu Dhabi in 2012.

39 – The lowest score from which Pakistan produced a century partnership for the 6th wicket in Test cricket was 39/5 in 2000 against Windies at Georgetown where Inzamam-ul-Haq and Abdul Razzaq put on 206 in the 1st innings. The 52/5 from where Sarfraz Ahmed and Asad Shafiq put on an unbeaten 146-run stand is the 2nd lowest for them.

52 – 52/5 is the 5th lowest score from which a team had a century stand for the 6th wicket in the 4th innings. The lowest score from where a team had a century partnership for the 6th wicket in 4th innings was 27 by South Africa against England at Leeds in 1998.

96Sri Lanka’s total of 96 is the lowest total for any team in the 3rd innings of a Test match after taking a 200+ first innings lead. The previous lowest total was 99 by South Africa after taking a 236-run first innings lead against Australia in 1950 at Durban.

96 – The 96-run total by Sri Lanka is the 5th lowest for them in the 3rd innings of a Test match and their lowest since 82/10 against England in 2011 at Cardiff.

1007 – Azhar Ali became only the 2nd player to score 1000 runs in Test cricket at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. He has scored 1007 runs in 17 innings at an average of 67.13 with three centuries and five fifties. Younis Khan was the first to score 1000 Test runs at Dubai as he has scored 1024 runs in 16 innings.
