The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has been left high and dry due to lack of interest shown by the fans for the ongoing T20I series between Pakistan and the West Indies. The matches are currently taking place at the National Stadium in Karachi and fans haven’t turned up in large numbers.

The PCB has been left stunned by the response especially after how the national team has done in the last two months. Pakistan are currently leading the three-match series 2-0 and will be looking for a clean-sweep in the third game of the series, scheduled to take place on Thursday, December 16.

Pakistan Cricket Board on its toes

In the meantime, amidst the lack of interest from fans, the PCB has been forced to think about giving free entry to fans for the ODI series. As per reports in Cricket Pakistan, the PCB called for an emergency virtual meeting to discuss the issue.

If reports are to be believed, it was agreed that the PCB won’t charge the fans any money for the upcoming 50-over matches. The ODI series is set to start on Saturday, December 18 in Karachi itself.

Earlier, Wasim Akram, the former Pakistan cricketer slammed the PCB for not being pro-active. The retired fast bowler dropped a couple of tweets to express his opinions.

“This is very concerning. This is not a backyard game this is an international series,” Akram took to Twitter and wrote.

“Incredibly sad to see an empty stadium in Karachi for the #PAKvWIt20 especially after the performance of Pakistan Team in the last month. I’m pretty sure I know why but I want to hear from you! Tell me, where is the crowd and why??” Akram tweeted.

As far as the T20I series is concerned, Pakistan, on Tuesday, won the second game by nine runs. After opting to bat first, the Men in Green notched a decent score of 172 for eight on the board. Mohammad Rizwan, Haider Ali and Iftikhar Ahmed scored in their 30s.

Thereafter, Brandon King’s 43-ball 67 gave Pakistan an almighty scare, but the hosts managed to hold their nerves. Shaheen Shah Afridi was the pick of their bowlers with three scalps. Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Wasim Jr. and Haris Rauf picked up two wickets apiece.
