In a nail-biting encounter at Hyderabad, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) clinched a thrilling victory over Rajasthan Royals (RR) by the narrowest of margins, winning by just one run in the 50th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024), on Friday, May 2.

Batting first, Sunrisers Hyderabad posted an imposing total of 201/3 in their allotted 20 overs. Travis Head led the charge with a blistering knock of 58 runs off 44 deliveries, supported by valuable contributions from Nitish Kumar Reddy (76* off 42) and Heinrich Klaasen (42* off 19). Avesh Khan was the pick of the bowlers for Rajasthan Royals, scalping two crucial wickets while conceding 39 runs.

In response, Rajasthan Royals fought valiantly but fell agonizingly short of the target, finishing at 200/7 in their 20 overs. Yashasvi Jaiswal was the standout performer for RR, scoring a brilliant 67 runs off just 40 balls. Riyan Parag also played a vital innings, smashing 77 runs off 49 deliveries. However, their efforts went in vain as they failed to cross the finishing line by just a solitary run.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar starred with the ball for SRH, claiming three crucial wickets while conceding 41 runs. Pat Cummins and T Natarajan also chipped in with two wickets each to derail RR's chase.

With this thrilling victory, Sunrisers Hyderabad strengthened their position in the IPL standings, while Rajasthan Royals will be left ruing missed opportunities as letting a match go away which was pretty much in their hand.
