Yuvraj Singh reacts to Karnataka's Prakhar Chaturvedi breaking his 24-year-old record

In a stellar display of batting prowess, Karnataka's Prakhar Chaturvedi embossed his name in the record books with a monumental innings of 404 runs in the Cooch Behar Trophy final. The match, held at the KSCA Navule Stadium in Shivamogga between January 12 and 15, witnessed a performance synonymous with a masterclass from the talented youngster, setting a new benchmark and surpassing the long-standing record held by the legendary Yuvraj Singh.

Yuvraj Singh, whose record of 358 runs stood unbroken for 24 years, expressed his admiration for Prakhar's extraordinary feat. The former Punjab all-rounder, known for his aggressive style on the field, lauded the Karnataka batter on 'X,' as he acknowledged the significance of the moment and expressed confidence in the future of Indian cricket with talents like Prakhar at the forefront.

"Very happy to see this! Records are meant to be broken and I'm glad to see the future of Indian cricket in safe hands🏏🇮🇳," the former India all-rounder wrote on 'X'.

Yuvraj's record, established in a final against Bihar, was a memorable innings where the former India captain MS Dhoni witnessed the onslaught from behind the stumps. The face-off was between Punjab and Bihar. Where Punjab scored a mammoth 839 runs in reply to Bihar's 357. Yuvraj took 579 deliveries on his way to creating a historic 358*.

In a resounding victory, Karnataka clinched a commanding win by an innings against Mumbai in a high-stakes cricket encounter in the ongoing Cooch Behar Trophy. Displaying an imposing performance, Karnataka amassed a colossal total of 890 for 8 in 223 overs of batting and left Mumbai trailing. Mumbai's response faltered as they were bundled out for 380 on the second day.

The standout performer, however, was Prakhar Chaturvedi, who faced a whopping 638 deliveries to carve out a monumental innings of 404 runs, embellished with 46 boundaries and three sixes. While not selected for the ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup, Prakhar's remarkable performance has undoubtedly put him on the selectors' radar for future opportunities.
